Дизайн модели создавался на основе концепт-кара C-XF, который был показан на Детройтском автосалоне. Разработчики решили отойти от ретро-стиля и создали действительно современный и модный автомобиль: крупные колесные арки, длинный капот, низкая крыша и просторный салон. Платформа S-Type, которая использовалась для создания модели, была удлинена на 12 сантиметров. Автомобиль позиционируется как спорткар. Изначально авто предлагалось с одним из четырех двигателей: 210 сильным V6, 250-сильным мотором, 300-сильным атмосферным силовым агрегатом и 420-сильной установкой, способной разгонять машину до 100 км/ч за 5,4 секунды. Также производитель представил заряженную версию седана -- Jaguar XF-R. Этот автомобиль комплектуется 510-сильным бензиновым мотором V8 с нагнетателем. Объем мотора -- 5 литров. Кроме мощного силового агрегата модификация оснащается спортивным обвесом, системой адаптивной динамики и активным контролем дифференциала.
